
DEBRA J. GROESSER

Debra J. Groesser was born in England and has resided in the Ralston, Nebraska area since 1970. Deb received her B.F.A. degree in 1978. She owns and operates Windsong Gallery and Studio, which houses her personal studio and gallery, framing shop and classroom, where she teaches drawing and painting for adults and children. Deb enjoys working in oil, watercolor, gouache, pen and ink, and pencil. She paints a wide variety of subjects, from children and landscapes to still life and wildlife. In her most recent work, she is using a more limited palette and painting “en pleine aire” in oils. Deb is fascinated by the play of light and shadows in her subjects. She strives to capture mood, emotions and personality in her work She draws her inspiration from her own children, grandchildren, from children she meets and from sketches and photographs she takes on her many travels. Deb has been influenced by the emotional quality and simplicity of Andrew Wyeth’s work. She is most drawn to the Impressionists, particularly Claude Monet’s use of light and color and Mary Cassett’s paintings of women and children. Deb has won many awards for her artwork on the local, state, and national level. She was chosen twice by the Nebraska Arts Council to display her work at the Governor’s Mansion in Lincoln, Nebraska, most recently in October 2001. Deb has also illustrated two children’s books. She frequently speaks at schools, libraries and local organizations about art. Deb’s artwork hangs in numerous private and corporate collections locally and nationally. Her work is featured at Hardwood Artisans Gallery in Rockville, Maryland and Windsong Gallery, Ralston, Nebraska. Deb is an associate member of Oil Painters of America.
