Doug Schroder is a Omaha-based clay artist. He received his MFA degree in ceramics from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. He has conducted ceramic workshops in Kansas and Arizona, sharing his wood and soda atmospheric firing techniques. He has exhibited his work in many juried shows throughout the US, such as the 8 Fluid Ounces Cup Show at the LSU School of Art Gallery in Baton Rouge, LA. His work can be seen in publications such as: 500 Cups: Exploration of Unity and Grace. Schroder's work consists of plates, cups, and bowls with images stamped into the surface. The stamps are recognizable images that remind the artist of people or events in his life. "These small daily interactions give us experiences building a history," Schroder explains. "Creating these objects allows me to pay homage to the people and events that make me who I am." |
