SUMMER, 2004 • LINCOLN 55+
A Visit to the Lousiville Art
Gallery
The scenic forty minute drive from Lincoln is well worth it when you travel to Louisville, Nebraska to visit the Louisville Art Gallery. It is housed in the beautifully restored Drake Hotel which dates back to 1910. Inside you will find a wide variety of excellent works of art produced by some of Nebraska’s finest artists. You will discover the soft colorful
stillLifes and pastorals of Valerie Light Anderson. The oils by Jean Mason are vibrant in both color and
movement. You will also enjoy the highly refined reverse glass works by James Bond and amazing pottery works by Dan Toberer, Peter Scherr, Tom Harnack and Larry Pelter. There are usually about forty different painters, potters and sculptors, along with colorful glass works by Ed Fennell of Crystal Forge. And don’t miss the nice showing of works by cover artist Ben Marxhausen.
Owner Steve Sherman has a variety of shows and special events planned
throughout the year. Most recent was the “Art of Wine” opening which featured wine tasting. Then there was the “Thrown and Blown II” which featured pottery raku
firing and wheel demonstrations as well as glass blowing. Gallery hours are Saturdays 10:30am — 4:30pm and Sunday 12 — 4pm.
Address is 230 Main Street. Phone: (402) 234-2867.
