An award-winning, regional artist, Murphy prefers the fluidity and creativity of watercolors, but also works in oil, pastel and acrylic. Her watercolor paintings are colorful and often whimsical representations of floral images demonstrating the versatility of her preferred medium. She has exhibited frequently in solo, invitational, and juried gallery exhibits while continuing regular commission work. The artist also works in private practice as a licensed mental health practitioner using art therapy with clients who seek self-discovery and stress management.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My interest in art has been a constant in my life as far back as I can remember. At the age of four, I drew common objects surrounding me. whenever life activities interrupted my artistic efforts, I yearned for return to the creative process which links mind, heart and hands. Always, I revisit the wonder and beauty of flowers after intervals of painting other subjects. The use of rich color and a whimsical approach to painting allow me to express the joy I experience in my life and the beauty of nature.
